MORGAN ADVANCED MANUFACTURING CENTER OF EXCELLENCE
Nearing project completion in November of 2018. This collaborative office, laboratory, and pilot plant, will enhance the research and development partnership between the U.K.-based Morgan Advanced Materials and Penn State. The space features an innovative workspace that promotes a variety of opportunities for collaboration. Upon entry the work café, acts as not only a space for staff, but also as a pre-function space to the large board room and interactive area. The use of exposed metal accents all connect back to the company’s tie to carbon while the warm wood tones provide a welcoming contrast. The workspace is flanked by open and enclosed team work spaces, that is adjacent to the lab space. Integrating four different spaces – Wet Chem Lab, Test Lab, Kiln Room and a Pilot Lab to drive new products and processes based on carbon science. Each space is interrelated to encourage developments in carbon research and advance new technologies related to carbon science.
The pilot plant was the key programmatic element for Morgan Advanced Materials. Their requirements set the minimum height requirements and flexible needs for future R&D tenants. For more on this project please see
