CATERPILLAR CLAYTON DISTRIBUTION CENTER
The single-story facility, located northwest of Dayton, Ohio was designed and constructed in less than 10.5 months, using a fast-track approach.
Caterpillar Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment engaged BatesForum to design and build their new distribution center. The facility, located northwest of Dayton, Ohio, was designed and constructed in less than 10.5 months, using a fast-track approach. This project was the first of six projects awarded and completed for Caterpillar. The building provides a platform for Caterpillar to receive various parts from vendors throughout the region; assemble them using a system of cranes, paint/finish and package the parts and then store them or ship them to the retailers or end users.
This project achieved LEED Silver Certification. Sustainable design features include all-concrete paving, reflective PVC roof, low-flush toilets, incorporation of regional materials, landscaping that requires no irrigation, clerestory windows, skylights and motion and daylight-sensing fluorescent light fixtures.
