Paul Sabal, AIA, ASHE, LEED - AP
Senior Principal and Director of Healthcare

Paul Sabal is a Senior Principal and the Director of Healthcare at BatesForum, an architectural, engineering, and technology firm with offices in Missouri, Illinois, California and Arkansas. He is both a registered architect and interior designer with extensive knowledge of, and involvement in, all aspects of healthcare design and construction, from initial land and facility planning, through design and construction delivery.

Much of Paul’s 35-year career has focused on collaborating with healthcare systems, private developers and physician groups on building ambulatory healthcare facilities. He is currently taking lessons learned from that sector to challenge traditional project delivery methods with the goal of increasing speed to market, lowering costs, and improving the quality of design and construction of acute healthcare buildings.

A native of El Paso, Texas, Paul left the desert and headed to the forests of the Northwest where he earned his Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University of Oregon School of Architecture and Allied Arts in 1981. He is a member of the AIA and the AIA/AAH, is a LEED AP, and holds certifications from the ACHA and NCARB. Also, he is a past member of ASHE’s Healthcare Construction Certificate Taskforce, and a past board member of the Missouri Society of Healthcare Engineers.

Paul lives in St. Louis with his wife Danise. When Paul is not driving Interstate 44 between his offices, he likes to ride motorcycles with friends, and enjoy a good glass of red wine.
